After many a fussy, cranky dinner- and because the weather does not allow us to go outside, like ever....We played a game tonight at dinner.
When I grow up.... I want to?
This is my best recording of what happened during that conversation.
When I grow up I want to live?
Eden-California (its warm there) or Philadelphia (there are many interesting sights including the Liberty Bell) hmmm-wondering if she is doing a Pennsylvania unit right now?
Grace-Africa, Ohio, or Minnesota-
Nate- Somewhere close to home :), but also I want to live by Strider. (And I quote,) "He is my best friend."
Sam- "Robert's house."
When I grow up I will be....
Eden- a race car driver (you can drive really fast and talk to your team :), a doctor, or an artist.
Nate-a professional soccer player or a writer
Grace-a waitress (because I could get lots of money for my kids)
Sam- "a guy with a SHOT" (My explanation: a SHOT is a gun, not what you might think of as a shot :)
When I grow up I will have....
Eden-"2 kids, a boy and a girl who I adopt at 2 and 3 and NO husband". *****sounds like a plan :)
Nate-"I don't really know-a boy and a girl, I don't know"
Grace- "Two boys, two girls-just like you, Mom."
Sam-"I have 3 boys!"
So, that was fun, and I plan to record this more often to see how it changes. Last weekend, we visited the boy who said, "I want to be a baker" (maybe age 4) and "I want to play for the NY Yankees." (sometime in early teens)
Look what he is doing now.....
What a fun weekend in Annapolis-visiting with Andrew, a plebe at the USNA, and seeing the sights. I think Nate heard his fill about "plebe summer", and decided, "I am never doing that!" But, maybe Andrew never thought he would be here either.
I guess you don't secure ALL of your life goals around the dinner table when you are 10 :).
You don't know what they will BE. But we can always hope how they will ACT. Just a little like this...letting a 10 year old walk arm in arm with you on the yard.
Awww... so many cute things! I'm so glad you're writing this all down -- you're right, it will be fun to look back at someday.
And Andrew is so impressive-- and yet still so cute! :)
